Very close to the hotel is the St. Mauritius Church with its enormous ceiling painting from the 13th century and its beautiful cloister.
For a good look at Hildesheim, climb the St. Andreas Tower, that, at 114.5 metres, is the tallest church tower in Lower Saxony. On the historically restored marketplace, you can see the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Germany as well as the Butchers’ Guild Hall (Photo) including a city museum and the Bakers’ Guild Hall.
Along with other museums there is the world famous Roemer- and Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim: along with special exhibits, this museum houses an Ancient Egyptian exhibit as well as an Ancient Peruvian exhibit. Weather permitting, many green areas, parks and lakes offer themselves up for a very relaxing day.
